Legacy Society

The Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia has created a Legacy Society designed to acknowledge the future benevolence of caring individuals who have included the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia in their estate plans or who have established a permanent fund here. 

Every year, the Foundation receives an unexpected gift from someone we never had the chance to thank.  The Legacy Society allows us the opportunity to thank you now by acknowledging generosity that will extend over generations.

We invite you to leave a legacy of any size.  Imagine people remembering you 50 or 100 years from now.  Their lives are richer or more productive because you took the time to leave a legacy.  The following types of gifts will qualify a donor for Legacy Society membership:

·         Bequest

·         Living Trust

·         Pooled Income Fund

·         Charitable Gift Annuity

·         Charitable Remainder Trust

·         Permanent Endowed Fund (donor advised, donor designated, or field of interest fund)

·         Gift of retirement asset or life insurance policy.

The Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia does accept anonymous Legacy Society gifts and will keep your name in strict confidence should you so desire.

1.                 Can someone help me prepare a will or estate plan?

Yes.  If you contact the Foundation we can provide you with a list of estate planning professionals in our community.  In addition, our staff will be happy to discuss your needs and charitable intent and suggest a variety of options.

2.                 What benefits do I receive as a member of the Legacy Society?

Members will be honored in the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia Annual Report as well as other publications.  You will be invited to our annual Appreciation Evening. Most importantly, you have the benefit of knowing your gift will have a lasting impact on the community for future generations to come.

3.                 How will my gift be used by the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia?

Donors have several choices.  Some gifts to the Foundation are not restricted and become part of the Foundation’s permanent endowment to be used where it is most needed in the community.  The Foundation also has a number of different funds to meet a donor’s specific charitable intent (field of interest, donor designated, and donor advised).
