Point, Click, Shoot: Visual Storytelling 101

What does it take to get a great shot that helps tell your nonprofit’s story? An expensive camera, full lighting rig and more? Not at all.

In this workshop Heather Loveridge of Magnolia Media Group, Amanda Sutt of Rock Paper Scissors and Renato Ferreira, department chair for Art and Design at the School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett High School, will walk you through the basics of getting great shots you can use on social media, websites and more. Plus, you’ll learn when you do need to call in a pro, how to get photos that support design and storytelling and more.

Learn more about Renato:

Renato earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from the University of Georgia, both his Master of Arts and his Specialists in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont University and is currently a doctoral candidate for his EdD in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont University; projected to be completed in the Fall of 2023. Prior to teaching at the School of the Arts at Central Gwinnett High School, Renato taught in Columbus, Georgia at the Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts and in Athens, Georgia at Fowler Drive Elementary School. While working in Athens, he met his wife, Elizabeth Ferreira. Renato is not only an art teacher but also a working artist, having displayed pieces in exhibitions at the Columbus Museum of Art, Atlanta High Museum of Art, and the Lyndon House’s annual juried exhibition, where he was awarded the L. David Dwinell Photography Award. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, participating in any kind of physical activity, and watching the latest Marvel movie or TV show with his wife.
