Beyond the Diploma: The Power of a Scholarship Fund
Meet Kyle.
Kyle graduated from high school at the top of his class. He was the first in generations of his family to bring home a high school diploma.
When he stepped off the stage, he was immediately wrapped in a bear hug by his parents, grandparents and siblings. In that moment, Kyle’s graduation was a symbol of hope.
But after graduation, his academic journey is at risk.
He applied for scholarship after scholarship, but he couldn’t bring in enough money to cover college tuition. While he hopes to save enough money over the next few years to pay for it, life has other plans.
His mother’s health is declining. He’s shared some of his earnings to cover the bills and isn’t sure he’ll ever have enough. Every day, a college degree seems further and further away.
Kyle represents youth across our community who are soaring high, only to be stopped short of reaching their full potential.
Then you step in.
When you establish or contribute to a Scholarship Fund, you bridge the gap between a student’s dreams and hard work and their reality.
Your fund can target students based on their intended field of study, community involvement, merit or their financial need.
- Are you a healthcare professional looking to give back in honor of the people who helped you? Your scholarship fund can support youth who dream of a career in medicine.
- Are you passionate about community change? Your scholarship fund can empower youth with big goals and even bigger hearts with the tools they need to change the world!
- Do you want to honor a loved one? Your scholarship fund solidifies their legacy by supporting students from a specific high school or with a specific need.
You may work with our staff to develop guidelines for students eligible to receive financial assistance through the fund. If you wish, you may also be involved in the annual selection process.
