CFNEG:  Why is being involved in the community/giving back important to you?

My parents were both community service minded. My father was a police chief and my mother a teacher. I was raised in a small town and participated in community service events from as far back as I can remember. I believe that our community is only as strong as our members and it takes all of us to help each other succeed. It is a responsibility to give back.

CFNEG: What do you want people to know about the Community Foundation?

I don’t think everyone knows all the great work the Community Foundation is doing for our community, and I would love to help spread that word.

CFNEG: What do you hope to accomplish as a board member?

I hope to strengthen my relationship with fellow board members and leaders of our community, and I hope to learn more about the great work being done in our community so I can spread the word so more will know about it.

CFNEG: What other causes are you passionate about?

I am passionate about organizations that work to give everyone a chance to succeed. Our family supports organizations that mentor children and teens, that support food service workers as well as supporting a residential treatment center for men with addiction.

CFNEG: What do you enjoy about your career?

I love the variety of clients I get to meet and work with, entrepreneurs who have started and grown their businesses. I love being a partner to my clients and feeling proud of how our team adds value. Mostly I love that no day is ever the same.

CFNEG: Tell us about your family.

I’m married to Steven and together we have three children: Caroline, Ben and Sullivan. Our kids go to North Gwinnett and are active in hockey and lacrosse. We have a handsome goldendoodle named Henry and two outdoor security guards (aka cats) Joel and Joyce. Also, my husband is owner and pitmaster of Socks’ Love Barbecue, the best BBQ in Georgia!

CFNEG:  What about other interests?

I am passionate about making our community the best it can be and spend a lot of time serving as Chair of Gwinnett County Planning Commission. I believe that when the community is thriving, all members should be thriving. I love to exercise and practice yoga, spend time with my friends and cheer on my kids in their sports. My husband and I love great food so you can ask us for the latest restaurant recommendations. I am happiest at the beach or the lake.

CFNEG: What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I know a lot of songs and could be an awesome teammate for music trivia and/or carpool karaoke.

CFNEG: One positive thing you’ve learned/realized from the COVID-19 pandemic?

I definitely love having two additional hours a day by not having a commute, but I also realize how short the time is that we have left with our kids. I have enjoyed being home when they get home from school to hear about their day and being able to cook dinner at home more often.
